Is CCU College an accredited school?
ABSOLUTELY! CCU College is a private institution that is accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts & Sciences, Inc. The National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences is recognized by the United States Department of Education as a national accrediting agency for postsecondary schools and departments of cosmetology arts and sciences and massage therapy.
The schools are approved by the United States Department of Education DOE to participate in Title IV Financial Aid programs. In addition, CCU College is an active members of the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS).
What are the graduation requirements at CCU College?
To get your diploma or certificate from CCU College, you must complete the program hours, successfully pass the written and practical examinations, complete the required number of practical and technical procedures, and meet all financial obligations.
Once I finish the program, will I get my license?
To receive your license, you must pass a licensing examination by the state board. CCU College graduates are well prepared to take and pass this licensing exam. All throughout the course of your choosing, we help prepare you for the exam.
Tell me about the classes at CCU College. What can I expect?
CCU College realizes that your career training should be fun and not institutionalized. Therefore, CCU College students participate in a number of fun and exciting events throughout the year. The Sidewalk Days, Fall & Spring Fashion Shows, and the Aerial convention are just some of the fun events that CCU College students attend.
As part of our “real world” training approach, CCU College has regularly scheduled training from a variety of retailers and salon professionals. CCU College is not limited to the variety of trainers that are able work with our students. We regularly invite experts from companies such as SR Education, Wella, Kenra, Sebastian, OPI, Logics, Nioxin, Regis, Cost Cutters, Great Clips, JCPenney’s, and locally owned salon managers, just to name a few.
At CCU College you will find newly remodeled and updated facilities with state of the art training equipment. CCU College’s theory classroom now has High Definition video projectors for PowerPoint presentations and DVD videos. In addition, we have implemented remote technology and interactive games to help make learning more fun.
At the core of CCU College’s Cosmetology curriculum is the integration of the S∙R Education Comprehensive Cutting Program. S∙R Education was created by former Sassoon Academy Creative Director, Sally Rogerson. This revolutionary cutting program specializes in simplifying hair techniques and approaches for easy understanding and use.

When do I begin to work on “real people”?
At CCU College, we know you are anxious to start – but we want to make sure you are ready. In the beginning you will start work on family and friends and as you continue to the next levels of training, you’ll be working on both student salon guests in addition to our mannequins.
CCU College has a very busy clinic floor in the heart of beautiful downtown Duluth. Downtown is where the action is for business professionals and tourists. CCU College has been a fixture in the downtown business community for many years. With an established clientele, our school can provide you with more hands-on experience than any other – but we will make sure you are absolutely ready before your start.
Is there a minimum age to enroll?
Yes, you must be at least 17 years of age.
Do I need to have a high school diploma?
Yes. Students enrolling at CCU College must have a high school diploma, GED or its equivalent to be eligible for any Federal Financial Aid. We have various options that fit your needs and will work with you to help navigate the process.
Do you offer financial aid?
ABSOLUTELY! We have financial aid available for those who qualify, both private and government programs. The government programs are based on need. The financial assistance programs are very flexible and can be tailored to your individual requirements. Will you help me find a job once I get my license?
The school will assist students in finding suitable employment by posting area employment opportunities, teaching job readiness classes, and/or by hosting a job fair at campus. However, the school is not promising or guaranteeing employment as an inducement to enroll and placement is NOT guaranteed.
